Blue Heron Pines in Galloway, New Jersey is a great neighborhood adjacent to the golf club.  Our homeowner loves the area, but they were paying high utility bills and were having overall comfort issues in their home.  

We performed a home efficiency audit, in order to find drafts or other reasons for the discomfort, and found some gaps in their home’s insulation as well as performance issues with the existing heating and cooling equipment.  

In order to increase the system efficiency and home comfort for our customer, we recommended a whole home solution.  While their current heating and cooling system did require an upgrade, without adding insulation, we would not have been able to ensure comfort year ‘round.  

We started out increasing the insulation by sealing the attic with spray foam around the recessed lighting, top plates and wire and plumbing penetrations, to prevent the drafts that were causing much of the problem, and we added blown in fiberglass insulation in the walls as well, to increase efficiency. We installed a new Carrier Infinity Hybrid Heating and Cooling system, that could provide efficient comfort in every season.

We also installed a Rinnai Tankless water heater.

The Rinnai tankless water heater provides hot water on demand, efficiently and at significant cost savings to operate compared to conventional systems. Because it does not rely on keeping a set amount of water hot, but heats the water as it’s used, it’s not only more efficient, but it removes any worry about flooding due to a broken water tank, while taking up significantly less room.

We have worked on several homes in Blue Heron Pines over the past year, and all of our homeowners have reported back significant savings of between $1,000 and $1,500 a year in energy costs.  This installation particular has ended up saving our homeowners over $100 a month in energy costs already, while giving their home better humidity and comfort control, regardless of the weather.  

The New Jersey Home Performance program was key to making this home project work as well financially as it does for comfort!.  This program, sponsored by the State, offers up to $4,000 in rebates and up to $10,000 in 0% interest financing for homeowners participating in an energy audit and taking steps to make their homes more energy efficient.

Not only were our homeowners able to make substantial, long term improvements to their home, increasing its comfort and value, but they were able to do so affordably. Through this program, homeowners like those in Blue Heron are able to save money and the environment by using energy more wisely.

Our homeowners were able to get rebates on both the new Carrier system and the Rennai water heater totaling $5,000 and were able to take advantage of the interest free loans, putting their payments at only $83/month, well below the $100 per month reduction they are already seeing in their energy bills, making this one of the best and smartest investments we’ve seen- it is literally paying for itself every month.
