Replacing a furnace is a huge expense, and a major hassle, for most people. It’s not on their radar, and when it finally breaks it’s a costly, sudden expense. Many people, then, try smaller fixes and hope they do the trick.

One South Village homeowner did that as his 20-year-old York heater began going in and out one winter. He’d had a minor repair previously, but finally realized it was time for a long-term fix . Thanks to Comfort Now, this South Village single-family home stays warm all winter long thanks to a quick, easy process.

Going into his first meeting, all this South Village homeowner knew was that he didn’t want another “Band-Aid” fix. Already, Comfort Now had replaced a thermocouple, but the problem persisted. It turned out the inducer motor broke.

Comfort Now Case Study Old York.pngSo, Casey McAllister, one of our Comfort Experts at Comfort Now, went through each step of the process to replace the home’s aging, 20-year old old heater. Since Comfort Now is a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, Casey could offer the homeowner many more options than some other contractors have available.

$200 Off An A/C Replacement

It was a bit overwhelming at first, but, Casey’s knowledge of each product and understanding of what this South Village house needed, helped the homeowner find the right fit.

That turned out be a new Carrier condenser and Comfort Series 85-percent gas furnace. As the numbers indicate, this was an improvement over the previous system. Of all the gas his old furnace used, 80 percent of it heated the home while 20 percent got lost in exhaust.

That balance shifted more toward heating with the new, 85-percent furnace. The energy-efficient model uses 85 percent of the gas for heating and just 15 percent in exhaust. That’s a better balance in than his old 80-percent gas furnace. It saves a few dollars on heating bill, too.

But it turned out a new furnace wasn’t all this home needed. Casey also spotted holes in the home’s old, flimsy duct panels. To make the most of the new, Comfort Now replaced the duct system, too.

The homeowner didn't even realize this was all needed in his South Village home, but once he felt the difference it was well worth it. Even the pricing wasn’t as much as he anticipated. Another thing Casey knew was that the upgrade qualified for the South Jersey Gas Energy Star financing program.

Since the new furnace meets new energy-efficient standards, South Jersey Gas offered zero-percent financing on a five-year loan to pay off the new equipment.

Now, this this South Village home stays consistently warm all winter, cool all summer— and for less money each month than the homeowner expected.
