Ocean breezes are a major draw for a house near the beach. There’s nothing like a gentle wind blowing through your home to circulate some fresh air and make you feel close to nature. As refreshing and relaxing as it can be, it’s not as enjoyable when the temperature’s too high, or the air is too muggy.

That’s why even homes down the shore have air conditioning. It gives you the option of enjoying the water nearby or basking in some serious home comfort. For most people, that makes central air the best: one flip of a switch and the whole house cools down.  

However, not every house is made for a unit like that. A property owner in Ocean City almost found that out the hard way. Fortunately, one visit from a Comfort Now Expert made the whole operation a lot easier.

Problem: Property owner wanted central air conditioning, but there was no place to put ductwork.

Solution: Install a three-zone Mitsubishi ductless cooling and heating system.  

Here’s the thing about central air: you need room for ductwork. In most houses, those big, bulky structures are tucked away in basements, crawl spaces, and attics. In a pinch, you can put them in a closet, or create a drop ceiling and hang them there.

However, those weren’t options for a duplex in Ocean City. It didn’t have an attic, and since the area floods easily the ductwork couldn’t go in the crawl space, either. The owner didn’t have a lot of closet space, and he didn’t want to restrict head room by building a drop ceiling or soffits to put the ducts up there.

Fortunately, now there’s another way to get heating and air conditioning all throughout a home without all that bulky stuff. This Ocean City duplex was perfect for Mitsubishi Ductless heating and cooling units. They’re sleek, quiet, easy to install and great for climate control.

The ductless units are wall-mounted panels that deliver hot or cold air through tubes that aren’t even an inch wide. That means installation is as simple as hanging the unit in the best spot, then drilling a tiny hole and feeding a small tube through it. 

That’s it! No big ducts, no giving up space and no building extra structures to house it all. They’re also much quieter than window and wall units, and more cost-effective. Each unit works on its own. That means, with the zoned system in this Ocean City home, there are three panels throughout the house. The homeowners there can set each one to a different temperature. This is perfect for bedrooms, and people who can't agree on temperature!

The result of this zoned cooling is they don’t have to pump as much cold air to account for parts of the house that take longer to cool. They also don’t have to turn up the heat for the one room that always seems to be chilly. It’s a great way to make a space more comfortable while also saving on energy bills. Speaking of savings, Comfort Now was able to deliver all this without breaking the bank. The property owner was eligible for financing. Instead of a big upfront cost, he only has to pay $200 a month while watching his energy bills go down.

That’s a lot of good stuff from just a few small panels!
