One strange but common thing we see in some shore homes is MOLD growing around the Aor Conditioning Unit. Bob E., a customer who we help out regularly, had this exact problem in his Ocean City Duplex. He noticed all the mold and knew it was something he had to take care of, especially since he likes to rent his place out at times, so he know that something had to be done quickly. 

Some may think that this is due to a lack of caring, but really this is a common occurance in Jersey Shore Island homes. The reason is because the warm humid summer air hitting the cold A/C air, in a spot that has ventalation to the outside, causes mold to grow. 

We knew this was going to require some investigating... 

Problem: Black mold was growing and they needed it removed and the problem resolved for the future.

Solution: Ripping up the damaged dry wall and sealing the ductwork properly. This seeping of air led to the buildup and growth of this black mold.  

The experts at Comfort Now decided that they needed to rip up the dry wall that was around the unit, and had been growing mold on it. This was essentially all of the walls in the heating and cooling room and garage. Once all the walls were removed, it was easy to see that the ductwork wasn't properly sealed, leaving air to condense, and sweat on the walls, creating mold. 

Our Plan of Action: After we had ripped the walls down, it was time to seal up the ductwork. This means properly fastening it so that no air can come in or out of the ducts. This mixture of air is what was causing the mold, and likely also costing in lost energy. All of the air that leaked was wasted energy that Bob spent money on. Now with properly sealed ductwork, he will eliminate the mold, while improving the energy efficiancy of his duplex.
